“Enter into His Gates
with Thanksgiving.”
We’ve
all heard this, of course. Sung it even.
Did you ever realize that
this verse assumes that God has already been working throughout the week to
give us something to be thankful for?
“Gathered
worship is never a retreat from the world. It is the most worldly thing we do,
in a way, because it’s the deepest expression of what it means to be human. …Gathered
worship reminds us that we live Monday through Saturday sustained only by
Jesus.”
All
good things come from God. There has been multitudes of good things throughout
our week, starting with the breath we take, to the tiny flowers, to the great
sculptures of the clouds, to even bigger blessings.
Our
Sunday morning Worship helps us to see God’s blessings throughout the week; to
worship Him in bits and pieces during our everyday life.
Our
daily worship throughout the week as we notice His blessings prepares us for
Sunday morning’s cooperate worship. They feed each other.
He doesn’t leave us to just slog it out throughout our week, only remembering us when we come to church, but blesses us abundantly all the time. The Bible says that all good things come from God, so every good thing that has happened to you this week, every good thing you have noticed, was a gift from Jesus. Think about all the blessings He has given you this week, big or little, and let’s praise Him for His love!
